Уважаемые доктора, прошу помощи в переводе.
Читаю Campbell's Operative Orthopaedics, 11th ed. Глава о "calcaneal fractures".
"Workers' compensation patients fared more poorly than non-workers' compensation patients" - несколько непонятно. Компенсация и качество жизни у работающих пациентов после травмы была хуже, чем у неработающих?

workers' compensation - это пособие по нетрудоспособности ввиду заболевания или травмы. :ah:
fare - собственно плата.

В данной фразе - значение 1.

intransitive verb (3rd person present singular fares, present participle faring, past fared, past participle fared)
1. manage in doing something: to get on in a specified way in doing or experiencing something
How did she fare in the exam?

2. happen: to turn out in a specified way for somebody
3. travel: to go on a journey
4. eat: to dine or be given food (old)

Я бы перевёл типа:

Выздоровление пациентов с индустриальной схемой страхования было медленнее, чем у пациентов с другими страховыми схемами.

Не переживайте. Даже профессионального английского (у меня второе образование, и по уровню доходов - первая работа) может не хватить, если не знать контекста - то есть правил страхования. Им наши ОМС и ДМС тоже не понять...
