In Kazakhstan, one hospital in Almaty found that the recorded cases of AE more than doubled from 15 cases in 2004–2011 to 32 cases in 2012–2014 [82].

For the first time, AE cases were published from Tajikistan, where 22 patients were diagnosed from 2010 through 2013 [83].

Only a congress contribution, referring to 83 surgical AE patients missing diagnostic criteria, has been suggested the presence of the disease in Uzbekistan [84].
